John Kascht is the visiting artist at the ISCA Caricature convention in San Antonio Texas this year, and I could not make it this year! I had to at least paint him. While working on this I tried to achieve the water color feel, but with digital tools in photoshop. We had a digital work shop with Jan Optebeck on the ISCA forum, wich I missed but knew I had to get this talented artist a painting of mine! I have more to go, but for now here it is!

I ran a question on a close up of a drawing I did of Matt Damon on my facebook fan page, and twitter and my college classmate from Ringling College of Art and Design Talmage Watson guess it right. He won a free drawing by me, so he wanted his son drawn.

The
definition of character is the mental and moral
qualities distinctive to an individual. Having superb character consists of six
main traits: trustworthiness, caring, responsibility, respect, fairness and
citizenship. Daily throughout the week I display these traits but also daily
attempt to improve upon them.
Trustworthiness is staple in the attitude
of good character. The saying goes if you want to get something done ask a busy
person. The meaning of this means is if someone’s busy they do what there
trusted to do; that’s why people ask them. My friends often consult in me about matters
due to my trustworthiness. I will bring trustworthiness to the NJHS.
Caring is displaying kindness and concern
for others. Caring is not just listening and giving a mediocre answer. Caring
is listing, giving good heart-felt advice, taking interest in, and actually
helping. If I get accepted into the NJHS I will care about problems in the
school. I will care about whatever problem presents itself at the time. Caring
is a crucial element in my book.
Responsibility… it has been a word we’ve
all known since 1st grade. It still plays an important role in out
lives. I know that responsibility is the doing of your words or expectations
from others. I believe that other adults and role models help teach us
responsibility by the doing if their own actions. I will continue to be
responsible in NJHS and be a model to others around me so that they may learn
responsibility.
Respect is an attitude I’ve had throughout
my school career and is a behavior that I will continue to show to everyone.
Including teachers, school staff members, and other adult figures. My friends and
peers as well. I will unquestionably bring respect to the NJHS.
Fairness can sometimes be hard to judge
and perceive. I’ve had several years of experience in the field of fairness. In
3rd-5th grade I was a peer mediator; I settled disputes
between people. I had to not take sides and be fair in my decisions. Through
that experience I have much fairness and will continue to express that
throughout the 8th grade.
Citizenship refers to the character of an
individual viewed as a member of society. I am very active in my church Grace
Christian Fellowship. I am there so frequently that basically I live there.
Every Wednesday I get there at 4:00 and help set up for the festivities that
begin at 7:00. That’s only a fraction of the role I play in my church. I have
much citizenship in my character and will continue with it in NJHS.
Character… a simple 9-letter word that
defines all of us whether it is solid character or poor character. Six traits of
having solid character are trustworthiness, caring, responsibility, respect,
fairness and citizenship. I know I have each of these. I will show them
everywhere I go and will always continue to better them.Thursday, October 11, 2012
Bobby Petrocelli project part 2
Every job has there bumps and every client has a different vision of what they want. Basically if you read the other blog post you will see that I was getting excited, was craving to get creative. I come to my attention he wanted the smaller photo he has of himself enhanced, and colored in photoshop. You can't always be picky with clients, but I took the black and white photo and made it larger, tightened it, added more values, brush strokes etc.
I used the coloring tool in photoshop and added the colors Flesh, dark blue on his shirt and a split complimentary color with the lighter green in the background. I then flattened the whole piece and added brush strokes to make it look painted. It was a fun experience to experiment and learn photoshop cs6 more, but I would rather be more creative. Clients are always #1 and I always do what ever I can to satisfy their vision!
Final Colored Portrait:
Next up is to paint a banner in the same technique:
Here is a thumbnail ( he does not want the other details with the Truck, Base ball, bed, window etc.

Bobby Petrocelli
Current Commission
Bobby Petrocelli's story is one of personal triumph and hope following a devastating tragedy in his life. One night he went to bed in suburban America, a happy man with a loving wife. But when he woke up dazed in his kitchen, his wife was dead and his life forever changed. The pickup truck that crashed through his bedroom wall was driven by a man who was more than twice legally drunk.
Bobby often shares how he fought through the darkness to triumph; how he drew upon his faith and friends; and how he came to love again. As a high school teacher and coach, his love for youth inspired him to take his dramatic story to audiences nationwide.
He is the author of several books, including 10 seconds Will Change Your Life Forever. He is now a motivational speaker who shares with people of all ages about the power of their decisions and how to build a strong foundation for their lives.
His coaching background and expertise with youth have made him one of the top communicators in his field.

Published work in Bass Angler Magazine Fall Issue
Thank you again Mark Lassagne for the steady work. I did some coloring on another artist Josh Mathus inking, the client thought he was to complicated to work with. I left an email with the artist but no answer so why not comic books do it all the time.
The other article was really fun and I was able to take a really old dying man, and do an Illustration from his last wish to catch that big bass! Well enjoy.
