Mural in an Elevator

I have been working on painting a mural for a clients mansion on Pass A Grill in Florida. I had to recreate a under water scene with 14 family members as sea creatures. The photos below are just used as a reference material and might be copyrighted by other artist. I am having a good time, but there are challenges with a lot of bumps on the walls. Here is a video I shot of the final piece, but she said I will adding others as her family grows :)
I wanted to post my video on the mural but the phone app would not let me do it, so here is a link: http://youtu.be/W3b0vy2zwA8

The following photos are not the greatest, but you get the idea!

Eagle Datagistics Large Employee Painting

This was an a big leap project for me to take on, because this time I recieved a bigger budget and was able to render this #painting with more a realistic approach to this #Illustration. I was originally approached a couple of years ago to go into the office and draw about 12 of the company employees. I explained to him to Chuck that I felt rushed last time and that I would rather try to have more time in my studio to painty the 14 employees in a layout of the office and see it over looking he gulf and the St Pete Pier.
I was asked to come in for a photo shot with my painting and I made up some individual post cards to hand out as keep sakes

And then Here is the the final 30"-20" size 14 employees painting. I felt I could keep going but I had to find a end. The client was very satisfied, and that is what counts
I did a photo collage to help find references ideas.
Drew a #sketch to get a rough idea of how to proceed
From this sketch we had some changes and reordering
Once changes was approved I started adding values
The next step was to do a full value under painting to get ready for the color layer

Family trip to London England painting

It was great to be asked to recreate a memory a family trip to London England, by one of steady live digital clients. I was first asked to do a portrait Caricature style, but I had make more of traditional portrait style. My favorite part was recreating the English nature with rain, and the way the reference photo was already very colorful.

Retirement Gift Caricature

It was really fun to render this gift Caricature illustration. I am not totally sure if I like the light green grass and will get back into that with some more earth tones. I have a 11 people Caricature that I am now working on for St Pete Catholic High  School, but first I have a #PascoPetFestival to attend in the morning so I better try to go back to bed! Comments are always welcomed on my blog!

I got some great feed back from my client on this job:
"Details of the Recommendation: "I cannot state in strong enough terms the pleasure I had in working with Lars. I was in search of a local artist who I could commission to create a custom caricature for a associates retirement and was blessed to be put in contact with Lars. The work was beautiful and expertly done. Our friend was moved to tears and later said of all the gifts he had received that ours was the most touching and the one he would most cherish."

Bobby Petrocelli project part 2

Every job has there bumps and every client has a different vision of what they want. Basically if you read the other blog post  you will see that I was getting excited, was craving to get creative. I come to my attention he wanted the smaller photo he has of himself enhanced, and colored in photoshop. You can't always be picky with clients, but I took the black and white photo and made it larger, tightened it, added more values, brush strokes etc.

I used the coloring tool in photoshop and added the colors Flesh, dark blue on his shirt and a split complimentary color with the lighter green in the background. I then flattened the whole piece and added brush strokes to make it look painted. It was a fun experience to experiment and learn photoshop cs6 more, but I would rather be more creative. Clients are always #1 and I always do what ever I can to satisfy their vision!
Final Colored Portrait:
Next up is to paint a banner in the same technique:
Here is a thumbnail ( he does not want the other details with the Truck, Base ball, bed, window etc.
